About the treatment

The CO₂ laser is a proven method for removing certain skin lesions, such as warts, fibromas and sebaceous cysts. Depending on the operating mode, it can also be used to improve skin texture and promote skin regeneration.

The CO₂ laser works by means of controlled tissue ablation – the laser energy is absorbed by the water contained in the cells, leading to the precise vaporisation of the affected tissue. Depending on the parameters used, it is possible to:

targeted removal of skin lesions,
fractional mode (microstimulation and skin remodelling),
stimulation of collagen production.

The choice of treatment mode depends on the medical indication and the doctor’s assessment.

What is the difference between a CO₂ laser and a fractional CO₂ laser?

This is the same CO₂ technology, used in different treatment modes. The surgical (ablative) mode removes lesions point by point, whilst the fractional ablative mode creates micro-columns of action in the skin, stimulating regeneration and remodelling, and reducing healing time compared to full ablation. The choice of mode is decided by the doctor during the consultation.

What does a CO₂ laser treatment involve?

Consultation and assessment – the doctor examines the skin and selects the appropriate laser mode.

Treatment – usually performed under local anaesthetic. Duration: 15–60 minutes, depending on the laser mode.

Post-treatment – the healing process depends on the laser mode. After the removal of skin lesions, a scab forms at the treatment site, which usually lasts 1–2 weeks. Following a regenerative treatment, the skin is red and swollen; healing occurs gradually over 1–2 weeks.

In both cases, strict sun protection and adherence to post-treatment recommendations, including the recommended home care routine, are essential.
