What is the Tricopat treatment?
Tricopat is an innovative hair growth stimulation technology developed by engineers, doctors and scientists at the University of Bologna. This Class IIB medical device combines several advanced methods of treating the scalp: micro-needles, acoustic waves, electrostimulation and LED phototherapy. The Tricopat treatment is completely painless, non-invasive and takes just 30–40 minutes.
Tricopat technology was developed for patients struggling with excessive hair loss, androgenetic alopecia, telogen effluvium and alopecia areata. By combining several mechanisms of action in a single treatment, Tricopat effectively stimulates microcirculation in the scalp, activates fibroblasts and prolongs the hair growth phase (anagen).
The procedure
The Tricopat treatment is a two-stage process, providing a comprehensive effect on the scalp and hair follicles.
Stage 1 – skin preparation: The Patting Head, equipped with 5 micro-cones, makes ultra-fine incisions in the skin to a depth of just 0.25 mm. Thinning of the stratum corneum allows active substances to penetrate more easily into the deeper layers of the skin. At the same time, acoustic waves enhance microcirculation, improving oxygenation and nourishment of the tissues.
Stage 2 – stimulation and delivery of active ingredients: The Trichological Cap head, with electrodes and 8 LED lights, delivers active ingredients deep into the dermis, directly to the hair follicle (iontophoresis). Red light (632 nm) has an anti-inflammatory effect and provides deep stimulation, whilst blue light (465 nm) has antibacterial properties and provides superficial stimulation. Following the treatment, a hydrogel serum containing growth factors is applied.

Results of the Tricopat treatment
The Tricopat treatment works in several ways – it stimulates microcirculation in the scalp, activates fibroblasts, supports the production of collagen and elastin, and prolongs the anagen phase (active hair growth). The effects of the Tricopat treatment become apparent gradually:
- After the 1st treatment – hair loss is halted
- After the 2nd treatment – hair stabilisation
- After the 3rd treatment – the appearance of new, short hairs
- After the 4th treatment – full therapeutic effect
The recommended course consists of 4–6 sessions carried out at monthly intervals. In the case of androgenetic alopecia, the course may be extended to 6 sessions. After completing the basic cycle, follow-up treatments every 3 months are recommended to maintain the effect.
